Jake Mitchell came to my User Experience class the other day to talk about his UX experience in the real world. He works for Carmax, that cool company that helps you find used cars and such. But that’s not all that’s cool about him and his work! He also created a new way for customers to view and purchase used cars. He created the 360 experience. It all started with Tiffany. Tiffany is Mitchell’s user persona for the used car buying experience. He created a video showing her struggles, her hopes, and her circumstances, all having to do with used cars. He then realized that people needed a new and better way to view these cars before actually buying them. And thus, the 360 degree experience was born. This experience allows you to get a look at the car you’re trying to rent from a 360 degree view! Cameras were set up in the cars that took a circular picture of the inside of the car so that when a customer is looking at which one to buy, they can actually see the interior and all the amenities included. I think this is an awesome way to keep up with the ever changing technological environment we live in today, while also making things easier for the customer. Win wins all around!
